Brenda Anguiano got a call saying she’d won a million credit card rewards points, and she had to do a double take.
Thinking it was a scam, Brenda took a look at her phone’s caller ID a second time. Yup, it was CoastHills Credit Union calling.
“I thought it was too good to be true. Maybe it was a trick,” Brenda said. “But it was the number from CoastHills because I have it saved on my phone.”
The realization began to sink in, and before long, it all became clear: Brenda was the lucky winner of CoastHills’ Million Points Sweepstakes.
From April to June, we gave our members a chance to participate. Each time you made a purchase with your CoastHills Platinum Rewards Visa credit card, you got one entry into the contest. With the prize representing $10,000 worth of reward points, the more you used your card for everyday expenses, the better your chances.
And that’s exactly what Brenda does. She uses her CoastHills Visa card for all of her necessities. Opting to visit the branch each month to pay her bill, Brenda walked right past the towering puzzle advertising the contest and a selection of wonderful vacation packages she could put together with the prize.
But still, the advertising never sank in.
Brenda just uses her CoastHills Visa card because it makes sense. She opened a checking account with the credit union about 10 years ago. Then she financed her car with CoastHills. Soon after, she applied for a credit card.
CoastHills makes a difference in our neighbors’ lives. And that makes it easy for Brenda to do business with us.
“I really like the way they work with people,” she said. “They try to help people as much as they can.
“I also like to use the card because of the great benefits and the low rates. That’s what I like the most.”
Brenda hasn’t decided exactly how she’ll redeem the prize just yet. She took a family trip to Guadalajara a few years ago and has always wanted to go back. She could also get some help from CoastHills’ dedicated employees.
Throughout the Million Points Sweepstakes, CoastHills staff researched the travel offerings available to our members through our rewards program and proposed their plans for what they would do with a million points.
The staff picks ranged from staycations complete with home entertainment makeovers to trips to Disney World and included Super Bowl tickets and exotic locales. Shelbie Toste, a lending specialist in our headquarters, put together a fabulous European vacation complete with a Mediterranean cruise.
