CoastHills Credit Union Raises $21,014 for Mission Hope Cancer Center
Credit union takes third place in corporate fundraising category as Day of Hope raises a record $681,779
Santa Maria, CA – CoastHills Credit Union raised $21,014 for Mission Hope Cancer Center at Marian Regional Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, earning third place in the corporate fundraising category during this year’s Day of Hope.
In all, Day of Hope raised $681,779 — a remarkable 44% increase over the 2025 outcome of $473,215, demonstrating the community’s deep commitment to supporting those battling cancer.
Among the leaders of the CoastHills fundraising team was Cathy Cachu, a CoastHills employee and cancer survivor. Cachu credits her family, her Rotary family through the Rotary Club of Nipomo, and her CoastHills family with helping her through her 2024 cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Years before becoming a patient herself, Cachu helped raise money for the hospital foundation and cancer center where she would eventually receive care.
Now, as a Day of Hope ambassador, Cachu shares her story to encourage others and shine a light on the cancer care and support services available close to home. "It was very meaningful," Cachu said, "to experience firsthand the facilities that we raised funds for over the years and to say we have wonderful staff and wonderful facilities right here in our community."
“I couldn’t be more proud of our employees and their dedication to this important cause,” says James Ledford, president and CEO of CoastHills Credit Union. “They continue to show up for our communities and support the causes that matter to them across the Central Coast. Lending our time, effort and financial support to the Central Coast is what we do. And we love it.”
