A Trusted Partner For Life’s Biggest Decisions: Bruce Altheide’s Path To National Recognition
Long before he became one of the region’s most trusted financial professionals, Bruce Altheide was growing up in Washington state, learning lessons that would shape the rest of his life. Hard work mattered. Family came first. And trust was something you earned over time.
Those early values still guide how Bruce approaches his work today.
After 36 years serving the Central Coast through CoastHills Credit Union, Bruce serves as Chief Wealth Officer, helping individuals, families and business owners plan for milestones that often span decades. Retirement, growing a business, caring for aging parents, supporting children and grandchildren. These are not just financial events. They are life moments, and Bruce has built his career on helping people navigate them with confidence.
In 2025, that steady, relationship-first approach earned Bruce a place in LPL Financial’s prestigious Ascent Club Program. The program recognizes a select group of financial professionals across the country who consistently deliver high-quality guidance and meaningful results for the people they serve.
For Bruce, the honor reflects something much larger than individual success.
“Being named to LPL’s Ascent Club is a testament to CoastHills Credit Union’s commitment to making a difference in our neighbors’ lives,” Bruce said. “Since launching CoastHills Wealth Management in 1989, we’ve been helping families and businesses maximize their financial resources and build stronger futures.”
Those who work with Bruce often notice the same thing right away. He listens first.
Ask him what matters most, and the conversation quickly turns from markets and strategies to people and relationships. Bruce is a proud grandfather, and he lights up when talking about time spent with family. That perspective shapes how he guides clients. Financial planning is not just about numbers on a page. It is about creating security, opportunity and peace of mind for the people who matter most.
And if you spend enough time with him, another passion is likely to come up.
Bruce is a lifelong Seattle Seahawks fan who has followed the team through every season’s highs and lows. With the Seahawks recently celebrating a Super Bowl victory, it has been an especially fun time to wear team colors. Around the office, conversations can easily shift from retirement strategies to game highlights, often with equal enthusiasm.
Over the years, Bruce’s journey from Washington roots to Central Coast leader has been defined by consistency, patience and trust. He has helped members navigate economic ups and downs, career changes, growing families and retirement transitions while keeping long-term goals in focus.
The recognition from LPL Financial reflects years of steady work rather than a single standout moment. It also highlights the strength of CoastHills Wealth Management, which has built a long-standing tradition of supporting members and the community with comprehensive financial planning, investment guidance and education.
For Bruce, success is not measured by awards or titles. It is measured in the outcomes for those he's helped. A comfortable retirement. A thriving local business. The ability to support children and grandchildren. Each milestone represents thoughtful planning paired with trusted guidance.
In the end, Bruce’s story is not just about financial expertise. It is about relationships, community and helping people move forward with confidence.

Getting to Know Bruce: Q&A
What advice would you give someone who feels overwhelmed about planning their financial future?
Take a deep breath and relax. The very fact that you’re thinking about the future is a good sign. It means you care. It means you’re trying to organize it and shape it intentionally.
As best you can, aim to live your life by design, not by default. There’s an old saying: “No one plans to fail; they fail to plan.” A thoughtful financial plan doesn’t eliminate uncertainty, but it can replace anxiety with direction and purpose.
How has being a grandparent changed your perspective on financial planning?
If somewhere along the climb to the top you felt like you lost sight of what matters most, becoming a grandparent is a beautiful reminder of how to reclaim it.
Having healthy, joyful grandchildren reinforces what true wealth really is - the things money can’t buy and time can’t take away. As unusual as it may sound, that’s actually where a strong financial plan should begin. Start with what matters most. Then build everything else around protecting and supporting it.
What do you enjoy most about working with CoastHills members?
First and foremost, CoastHills members are real people living real lives. They work hard, earn their money one dollar at a time and are focused on caring for their families and building secure futures.
Because CoastHills Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, it’s uniquely positioned to support those goals. As a financial advisor serving CoastHills members, I have the privilege of being part of something meaningful - work that’s grounded in purpose and community.
We hear you’re a big Seattle Seahawks fan. What does game day look like for you?
Game day usually means friends over, the grill going, a Seahawks 12th man jersey on and the game playing in every room of the house. There is always plenty of spirited commentary and a few playful texts to friends who happen to be cheering for the opposing team.
And to be completely transparent, each weekend I cheer for two teams: the Seattle Seahawks and whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys.
