Multi-Factor Authentication Preferences

Add Extra Security with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Your CoastHills account is important - and keeping it safe is just as important to us. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) gives your account an added layer of protection by making sure it’s really you logging in, especially when you’re using a new device. Whether you prefer a text message, phone call, or an authenticator app, we’ve made it easy to choose what works best for you.

Getting Started on a Desktop

Step 1: Log In
Start by clicking the Login button at the top of any page on the CoastHills website. Enter your username and password to access Online Banking.

Step 2: Go to Your Settings
Once you're logged in, click My Settings in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Choose Security Options
Scroll down until you see Login & Security, then click Edit next to Security Options.

Step 4: Update Your Preferences
Here’s where you can check your phone numbers. These numbers were pulled in during your registration and are used to send you verification codes. Make sure they’re current so you never miss a login code.

If you’d like to use an authenticator app instead of a text or call, you can enable it here. Just flip the switch next to “By Authenticator” to turn it on.

Before you go further, make sure you’ve downloaded either Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. You can find both in the Apple App Store or Google Play - whichever device you’re using.

Apple App Store –
Microsoft Authenticator
Google Authenticator

Google Play –
Microsoft Authenticator
Google Authenticator

Step 5: Save to Generate Your Code
Once you've chosen your method, click Save at the bottom of the page. That will generate two things:

  • A QR code you can scan
  • A 32-digit setup key you can enter manually

Either will help you connect your CoastHills account to your authenticator app.

Step 6: Set Up Your Authenticator App

Microsoft Authenticator -

  1. Open the app and tap the + icon.
  2. Choose “Other” as the account type.
  3. You’ll be prompted to scan the QR code from Online Banking or enter the setup key manually.
  4. Once added, your CoastHills account will appear in the app with a 6-digit code that refreshes regularly.

Google Authenticator -

  1. Tap the + icon or “Add a code.”
  2. Choose whether you want to scan the QR code or enter a setup key.
  3. Give the account a name like “CoastHills Online Banking” and enter the 32-digit code if you’re not scanning.
  4. You’ll now see your CoastHills code in the app anytime you log in.

And just like that - your account has a whole new layer of security.

Setting MFA Preferences on the Mobile App

Note: The authenticator app setup is only available in Online Banking via desktop or browser - not in the mobile app. But you can still update your phone numbers and preferences here.

Step 1: Open the App and Log In
Use your Apple or Android device to open the CoastHills Mobile Banking app and log in with your credentials.

Step 2: Go to “More”
Look for the More option in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

Step 3: Open Your Settings
Tap the gear icon at the top-right, then select My Settings.

Step 4: Edit Security Options
Scroll down to Login & Security and tap Edit next to Security Options.

Step 5: Confirm Your Phone Numbers
Make sure your contact numbers are still correct. Once done, enter your password and hit Save to lock in your changes.

What to Expect When You Log In From a New Device
When you log into Online or Mobile Banking on a new phone, tablet or computer, you’ll be asked to confirm it’s really you. You’ll be able to choose:

  • Text – We’ll send a code to your mobile device.
  • Call – We’ll place a call to your registered number.
  • Authenticator App – You’ll open your app to get a unique code.

Once you receive your code, just enter it in the prompt to continue into your account.

If you’re logging in from your own device, we recommend clicking “Yes, register my private device.” That way, you won’t need to enter a code every time—just when you log in from a new or unrecognized device.
